The Anomalous Doughnut is a two-step dessert with a long tail of ingredients behind it. Here’s the whole tree first, then where to get the one awkward ingredient, then what to actually do with a stack of them.

The full Anomalous Doughnut crafting tree

Everything here is made in the Nutrient Processor. One doughnut takes:

Shopping list per doughnut:

Ingredient Amount Used for
Hexaberry 1 Anomalous Jam
Sweetroot (or Grahberry / Cactus Nectar) 2 Two Processed Sugar
Fresh Milk (or Wild Milk) 2 Two Cream, then two Churned Butter, then Clarified Oil
Heptaploid Wheat (or Glass Grains / Kelp Rice) 1 Refined Flour
Wild Yeast 1 Dough

That’s twelve processor steps for one doughnut (thirteen if you make the Wild Yeast from Faecium), so prep the base ingredients in bulk before you start.

What the Anomalous Doughnut does

Eat it from your inventory and you get a short jetpack boost. Nice, not worth twelve cooking steps.

The real use is the Nutrient Ingestor. Load doughnuts into it and the Fandom wiki lists each one at +6443% Fauna Analysis Rewards for 10 minutes. That’s the number people are chasing.

It also has a base value of 70,000 units if you’d rather just sell.

Where to get Hexaberry

Hexaberry is the hard one, because it only shows up on exotic planets. It grows wild there, and you can also get it from some fauna on those worlds.

Once you find an exotic planet with plenty of it, drop a base marker there. You’ll be back.

Getting the other ingredients

The rest is ordinary cooking stock:

  • Milk: milk creatures you’ve befriended or farm at base for Fresh Milk, then process it into Cream.
  • Sugar: Sweetroot, Grahberry or Cactus Nectar each process into Processed Sugar.
  • Flour: Heptaploid Wheat, Glass Grains or Kelp Rice each process into Refined Flour.
  • Wild Yeast: process it from Faecium, which fed creatures leave behind.

If you already run a creature farm for milk, you’re most of the way there. The cooking hub has every other recipe if you run out of one input.

How to farm Anomalous Doughnuts for fauna analysis

This is the loop people talk about:

  1. Buy the Nutrient Ingestor blueprint from the exosuit upgrade merchant on the Space Anomaly. It costs 30 Condensed Carbon, 1 Lubricant and 2 Microprocessors to build.
  2. Install it in your exosuit and load it with Anomalous Doughnuts.
  3. Start ingestion, then go analyse fauna on a planet with lots of creatures. Each doughnut keeps the buff going for 10 minutes.
  4. Cook more doughnuts while you’re not scanning.

Fair warning: the Anomalous Doughnut isn’t special here. Fandom’s Ingestor table shows plenty of cooked foods sitting around the same +6440% mark, and a few edge slightly higher. I’d use whichever one your setup turns out fastest. If you already have Hexaberry flowing, it’s this one.

I also can’t give you a units-per-hour figure. Payouts depend on the creatures and your scanner, and nobody official has published numbers.

Is it worth it vs just selling?

A Lumpen Doughnut is already worth 48,000 units on its own. The jam step adds a Hexaberry and a sugar and bumps it to 70,000. If you’re cooking for cash, that’s a solid upgrade for two cheap ingredients.
